I have a 1996 Buick Skylark with the 3.1 emgine. My problem is that the windows go down but takes an hour to get them back up. They move about 1/2" going up. Wait for about 5 minutes and get another 1/2". I read alot of the past threads about this. How do you know if its the Regulator, motor, or the switches. Each problem sounded very simular. What do I do to check each piece to see which item it really is. Thank you for any advice.

Hi
If the window goes up and down, but sticks, the motor is probably ok. The problem I suspect is in one of the following areas. 1) the window felt (channel lining.) is tired. It can gum up the works when it gets old and gets a high friction factor. If you can find a replacement and install it, the window will seal better, fit better and move easier. 2) I have not seen the winder gear, (Mine is a 2 door) but that could have a combination of wear and contamination issue. Clean, lube and reassemble and see what gives. My personal experience is window felt is a big deal. I replaced on on my truck and the window that would stick and bind suddenly was quiet and lightning fast. when you remove the panel, be careful. parts for these are getting hard to find if you break them. I need a reflector that goes on the door panel of my '92 skylark GS and cannot find one. (it was gone when i purchased the car.) And it bugs me because the leather interior is pristine except for this missing item. Ron
