Help! Alero 2002 Shifting Hard and IAT Errorbearhat 06-10-2008, 11:19 AM Help! :crying: My Alero is shifting hard and the check engine light is on. The code informs replace the IAT. I have replaced the sensor 2x to be sure I did have a bad one. I took the car to a trans repair shop last Sat and they told me that I have to correct the sensor issue first. The IAT stays at a -38 How do you check the if it is getting voltage? Has any one had this issue. Broken wire??? Please help the car goes in the shop tomorrow! BNaylor 06-10-2008, 11:32 AM GM has a TSB out on this issue and I recall it recommends repairing damaged wiring at the IAT electrical connector or replacing the connector. The PCM module supplies a 5 volt dc reference signal to the input and the output back to the PCM module varies since the IAT is a thermistor based on air intake temperature. Also, you may have to reset the PCM module to clear the existing IAT DTC causing the SES/CEL light or it may clear after a few drive cycles on its own. bearhat 06-10-2008, 09:37 PM Thanks for the info! I went to a GM dealer and bought a new plug pig tail, cut off the old plug and crimped on the new one. The car is running like a champ now! It is amazing that one little sensor could make the tranny shift hard like that. Damn that air intake sensor! Ha! Thanks again! You are the mutts nutz! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
