Plastic fuel line connector at fuel rail leaks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I noticed today that that connector at my rear rail is weeping a bit. That would the explain the faint odor of gas after parking. The front connector is bone dry. The rear one can be wiggled allot more than the front. A bad "O" ring?
Then I noticed the imprint of the rear connector in the foam bottom of the engine cover. ('96 Regal 3.8L series ll). There is no imprint from the front connector. I suspect that vibration of the cover is transfered to the connector evetually causing it to leak.
Perhaps the cover could be lifted a bit and / or the foam cut away over the connector?

I would get that taken care of as soon as possible. You don't want an engine fire. :grinno:

It is common for the plastic engine cover to contact the rear fuel return line on a SII 3800 engine. If nothing else IMO it holds the connector on to the fuel injector rail better.

Bad or worn out o-rings with your year or mileage (what ever that may be) is not uncommon so best to replace the connector o-rings. You'll need the proper fuel line disconnect tool to remove the connector to replace the o-ring seal.
