94 Deville Concours, what is wrong?

Hello,
I am new here. and in advance I'd like to thank anyone for reading this!

I own a 94 cadi deville concours. It has low miles (under 75000). It runs fantastic on the freeway. but for some reason it just shuts off (while driving) in slow traffic. It starts right back up again and doesent do this every time. I notice it happens often when its shut off say for errands and then started back up soon thereafter.

I have all the preventitive maintenance done, and there are no leaks or noticeable hose discrepancies. I need to get it taken in I know and when I have the money I will. I'm wondering if there are anyone else with similar experiences? or perhaps expert mechanical genius people out there willing to lend there advice?

I'm scared to get taken at a mechanic and I have rather limited skills mechanically.

thanks again for your time!

very respectfully,
Shaun M.Bousquet

Welcome to AF, many things can cause this, but start with cleaning the throttle body and remove and clean the idle air control, use throttle body cleaner and follow the instructions.

I'd check the computer codes for a possible Crankshaft Position Sensor failure. They can cause random stalling, and will be fine when you go to restart it!

well so far we have replacd the crank and map sensors. only got codes for the map sensor. and it still decides to shut off.

what really can I do?

well I'm going to have my buddy who's a mobile mechanic try that. Cuz I would probably screw it up. could something that simple really be the cause?
