Twice in the same night I try to get a race with someone in an honorable fashion, no cheating, no jumping or sneaking. and twice these pussies ruin it for me.
I dont know about the rest of you but racing is a therapy for me. win or loose Its an escape from all the crap the day deals me. Its like I remember why I love cars and why I spend so much time and energy on mine. its a pay off that reminds me life is still worth living for those exciting moments.

But when retards get on the road and ruin the experience I swear those homicidle intentions kick in. (this is the part where you think *oh Musashi is so crazy* no I really wanna skin someone alive.)

A fucking Mustang drives by me today. a 94-96 GT with I dont know what kind of rattly crappy exhaust. he gets next to me and just guns it with no warning, no honk down no nothing. Okay im game, I tame off and pass him. I take a corner and he jumps over two lanes to chase after me. Goes for a ricer flyby when I catch him and stop him short, I pull up another 3 or so cars and back off the throttle. he slows down next to me at which point I ask him to lower his window so I can explian to him that the proper way to conduct a race is to at least honk it down. NO, he takes off again without warning.
I let him go right there, he was slow, its a shitty mustang, no victory at all in beating it, just a waste of gas.

I know how musashi feels about not getting any races with worth while cars. The only cars that seem to be racing now, especially with the rising gas prices, seem to be the n/a 4 bangers that seem beaten to hell. Everyday I see less and less sport cars and more and more gas savers.

There used to be an abundance of 350z's running around here but not anymore, i used to see about 10+ a day now i see around 4 a day. That is just an example of how it is. Every couple days people are trading in their gas surpers and getting something more economical, I drive past the dealers by my office and see 2-3 newly traded in SRT-4's that just sit taking up space at the dealer, there has been a black, blue, and 2 oranges at the same 2 dealers for about 2 months now.

The scene here seems long gone as far as street racing goes, there is probably a hand ful of us left, now everyone just seems to care who has the bigger rims and stereo system in their car for those car meets, where as before you would go to the car meets to race.

It's become very dull over the past year....even the cops are bored

But Gotian, its not just where you are. Its happening here too. Almost no boosted cars or huge V8s anymore. There are the typical holdouts... I know a guy who has an H1 who never drove it until Diesel hit $5 a gallon... now its his DD. The number of corvettes has gone up, but everything else has evaporated. You would be amazed how many GTOs we have up here for sale.

Its a sad day when Honda Fits outnumber everything else in a parking lot with your buddies. I am going to be one of the holdouts for as long as I can, trying to keep the scene alive.

just yesterday there was an orange 99-04 gt stang in front of me at a light, with black racing stripes and exhaust (probably a flowmaster catback like every other fucking mustang in the world). and he rev'd it up while the light was red, then when it turned green we both turned and i gunned it up next to him...the two guys in the car just stared at me blankly, and as i tried to coast with them the driver just kept decelerating until he was going like 38 in a 45. i pulled it back up to like 45 and he just sat a few lengths behind me for the next few miles.

i live over near hwy 55 and high house,, i'm about 10 minutes from state. i live with my rents in cary during the summer and in charlotte during the school year.

I don't really rev at lights to get people to race. I had a guy in an IS300 with huge exhaust trying to get me to race him on I-10 east of Tallahassee on thursday. He kept passing me and slowing down so I would get in the passing lane and then gunning it when I got alongside him. Keep in mind I was already doing 79mph as it was. You have to be nuts to drive over 100 on I-10. There are FHP everywhere. I kept looking over at him and shaking my head no and he kept cutting in front of me and hitting it when I got beside him. I felt like a rape victim. Besides, why would anyone in there right mind engage in a high speed highway run in a stock WRX? That would just make me look silly.

Yeah, if you rack the slide it will click. But who carries without one in a chamber, especially when the whole point of the Glock is that it is a "safe action" pistol that will allow you to carry it cocked and locked with out worrying about an accidental discharge or fumbling with an external safty?

I'm looking at jumping back to Glocks for my CCW. I really like the 23 and that .40 S&W is a hell of a round. And during the summer months when its nine zillion degrees, its a good bit easier than my 1911.

I think GForce already posted about the race. It was a 5.7GTO and I think we started around 50mph. From 50-around 90 we put (not exaggerating here) 4 cars on the guy at LEAST. It was fun:)

From my experience the 6.1 GTO is MUCH stronger than the 5.7.

Maybe the real fast scooby driver is afraid to break his tranny on a clutch dump. Even dumping the clutch in the stock car puts alot of strain on it. Although, a car with considerably more power might be able to get enough wheelspin to reduce the strain.

:rofl: that's a good way of putting it. the GTO is too much of a pig to be powered by the 5.7 LS1 effectively. the LS2 compensates for the extra few hundred lbs it has on the f-bodies nicely tho. is there any other real performance difference between the 04 goats and the 05/06 other than the motor?

Yeah I know what you mean, the problem is it runs on a shortened platform of the 300 and the charger, so the weight is gonna be huge. Maybe one day they will put that engine in something lighter then a small moon.

FINALLY!! You sir just went up in my book. Even if I lose I still love the competition. I believe it would be a pretty fun and close race. From a dig it would be very tough for me but from a roll (yea I know...wimpy way to race but hey, its safer from getting caught) it would be favored towards me. Your not in my area though...NC?

A grand total of three people in this damn state can launch decent, so most racing is from a roll...heh.

most of the 5.7's are making at or over 300rwhp bone stock, and you've also got a tad over 300 lbs on the ls1 f-bodies...just some food for thought :wink:
