when i go to start my car, it revs up to 2 grand but instead of dropping to 1100, it drops down to like 500-600 and barely stays runnin gunless i give it some gas. this only lasts for about 20-30 seconds and then its fine. so now i drive it and after about 2 miles it dies. when i try to start it back up it revs up to like 1300 and then dies immediatly. i keep leeting it start like this untill it finaly revs up and can drive again. sometimes it takes 3-4 time sometimes it take a half hour. my dad said someting about vapor lock. but are there any other things as to why its acting so weird. other then the "moments" my car has, it takes off pretty good so as far as i know i dont think its something major.

There's nothing more scary than vapor lock. I'm Joe Namith

Sorry you said vapor lock and it reminded me of the Simpsons.

Sounds like your Idle Air Controller (IAC) is going bad or your front O2 sensor is shot. Is your check engine light on? Also, what year and trim do you have?

older 95 with a 420a. if i have the iac unplugged will it cause all this. and heres a new problem when it finnaly idles, rough anyways, when the radiator fans kick in ( which i found out didn't turn on so i fixed them) the engine almost dies. i also just checked the altenator and im getting 17 volts. i'm starting to think the computer is fried cuz i believe the voltage regulator is in the pcm which i can't fix.

17volts? Uh that's the problem. Take that bad boy out and replace it. ECU may be fried if not numerous other things. If you have or can find a spare ECU, swap it in (after you fix the alternator) and see if that fixes it. If you need a ECU I got a spare to sell.

I thought that the voltage reg was built into the alternator?

yeah i think it is now. but i read somewhere in my haynes manual (thats probably why, haynes sucks) that the voltage regulater wasin the pcm. that must be a secondary one. i hope i didnt wreck any of my computers by rynning it with that many volts
