98 CV Died under full load - HELP

While entering the freeway, after removing a stuck water jug, the engine died at about 50 mph. This failure happened with my foot on the floor board, without any noises, bumps or rattles. In fact it felt like I pulled my foot off the gas. Upon trying to restart the engine only managed a sputter. This same sputter occurred after replacing the cam position sensor.
The CV is a 1998 with 126,000 on it. Changing the cam position sensor has been a regular event which is why I had one in the trunk and replaced it.
Having deposited my CV in my driveway at 9:30 Monday night and working 285 miles away evaluation has been minimal. I believe the rear inertia sensor is set, my trunk does not contain the sticker for positive ID.
Has anyone seen this before or have any additional/better thoughts to the following:
1) Check codes
2) Follow codes
3) Proceed checking fuel pressure if weak where do I start?
4) If fuel pressure good check spark with starting fluid into throttle body
5) If there is fuel but no spark then what?

Thanks –
I’ve never had an engine quit at full throttle with making exceptional noise so there are many variables

GOT IT! Turned out to be the cam position sensor. It started 3 days later but was running poorly and coded the sensor. Stuck another one in and it has been Running fine since:biggrin:
