1995 Alternator Problem

I replaced my battery & Alternator on my 1995 LA SABRE. In fact twice the alternator. And it the amps gauge shows the car not to be charging. (In the negative)It drains my new battery quick after starting the motor. It has to be the small red wire going to the fuselage. The first alternator blew within a few mins. Does anyone know where that wire goes to? Or what the problem is? Were on our 4th alternator!
All the wires from the battery are in excellent condition.
Thank You,
Gary

Have you had any of these alternators tested, or did you just assume that since they did not charge on your car, they were bad? The alternator regulator is controlled by the PCM on the 1995 and that is where the red wire goes. If the PCM goes defunct, the alternator will not charge!

The ignition switch can also do that.

Thanks for the info HotZ28 & Blue Bowtie. Yes I have had the old Alt. and the new ones tested...old one failed and new ones did also...after being installed on car. You gave something to work with later today.
Thanks
