I have wanted to do this car for a long time, i am not a big fan of Robby's but this car looks so good. Mr Nascar did the decals and he used Ford Grabber Blue, i was thinking of giving Tamiya TS-44 Bright Blue a go with this one. The front of the rear spoiler is red which i think Tamiya X-7 Red looks close to the decals.
I have got the chassis together and gave it a light dust to pick any areas needing more sanding which i have started. I have also done the dash and added the Earnhardt bar. The hood has the sink marks out but i am now thinking of adding the hood pins and also the hinges so i will most likley have to paint it again.
I am not sure i want to try doing the nose alterations i shall see before i paint it.

Well i have now got the body in colour. The blue is TS-44 Bright Blue and i used the TS-49 Bright Red for the spoiler, both sprayed over grey primer. I still need to clean up around the windows and a couple of spots where it bleed through the tape. Then i will fog in the black on the side skirt areas, decal and clear. Next is the chassis painting.

Well the decalling process has started. These still need to be trimmed etc so disregard the cuts etc. Going Ok at present, i have a couple of small splits in the roof decal around the rails but i will either touch up with paint or some extra decal.

Decals are all done on the body. I shall let it sit for a couple of days then i shall wash it down and hope to get some clear onto it over the weekend.
With this now done, i shall get to work on the chassis and engine.

Still slow going so far i have just started looking at adding a Kool box just testing for placement, ignition boxes which i will wire up and a newer style seat to suit Mr Gordon. Dash with Earnhardt bar added and soon to be painted.

Looking very nice so far Shayne.
I wanted to get some 3 Amigo's Decals myself. What's the quality like?

Thank you. I like the decals, they are thin which is what is to expected, there were extra #31's to make sure the colour white stayed nice and crisp, fit was great so i would use again without hesitation.

Coming together well Shayne. I seem to remember that the 3 Amigos stopped printing, have they restarted?

Well seeing the weather has warmed up here now it is much easier to do some painting. I wanted to cover this in 2K as i used TS13 on it originally and it sort of melted the Tamiya Semi Gloss Black i had used for the lower portion of the body. I touched this up with some out of the bottle and then sprayed over it, the masking qualities of 2K over mistakes etc is excellent. I had already put the grill decals etc on and really did not want them too glossy looking so i might cover with some dullcote later.

I have also started some wiring in the interior, not too much just wanted to add some extra details.

And last bit for this time around, just been playing with the exhaust and trying to give it a slightly used look.

I have been trying to get this one finished up. Added a fire bottle to the interior and started running the line for that. Installed the headers and engine & i have almost finied up the rear end, & of course the tyres which still need more details added before i dull coat them.

I have installed the dash with the Earnhardt bar which i will now glue into place. Seat is in place & belts are in and just need decals added to them. So it is almost ready after a long drawn out build which i will be glad to see the end of.

This car looks great so far but the bar on the dash looks incorrect to me, seems like it should be the other way around??

The Earnhardt bar is now glued in place and i think you will get a better understanding of it now willster127.
Now i shall finish up the wheels and this one is finally done.

Great build, Shayne! One question ... how do you do the window trim and bars on your windows? Do you mask and airbrush or do you use a marker? I'm having problems getting a clean black line on the windows. Any insights into your process would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Johnny B

Johnny they were done with a Sharpie and just run around a couple of times. I made the mistake of polishing the clear area prior to doing to black borders which of course made the black ink bead up a little and took a few more goes than normal.
