Running Hot

I replaced my radiator last year after my accident and replaced the thermostat. It was running perfect last year and then this year it is running very hot. I put water wetter in and it did not help lower coolant temps.

Also, the air conditioning blows HOT HOT air. Could this be a problem with the thermostat even though It was just replaced? Or what?

Sounds like maybe it's leaking somewhere or there's bubbles in the lines. I would drain the whole system, see how much comes out. The flush it and refill with coolant and see if that fixes it. Thermostat shouldn't be bad already.

Ok so what exactly are your coolant temps? Do you have a logger? I never had a problem until I installed my front mount intercooler. Then all the running hot drama set in.

So last summer on a 100+ degree day i was managing about a 225-230 degree cooling temp at about 70 mph and 3k rpms. This wasn't good because I'd reach about 3/4 on the stock temp gauge. Anyway I did all the normal shit; flushed the cooling system, added water wetter, went to a 16 psi radiator cap, put in a new 180 degree thermostat, and added about a 60% water and 40% coolant. After that, I removed my stock fog lights, and cut up some stock intercooler piping which i put in place of the fog lights, and directed them around the intercooler to the radiator so it would get that much more fresh air. I still ended up running around the 225 degree mark.

So I asked around on the forums and they suggested fabricating some shrouding around the intercooler and radiator to direct air through the radiator. This produced the most significant drop in coolant temps. It brought it around to the 215-220 degree mark. Since then I have added a heat shield around the exhaust manifold, and two slim line fans that I rewired. So on a 80 degree day I will see coolant temps between 190 and 205. (Depending on how much I get on the throttle)

Yesterday I just bought a mishimoto (or whatever its called) aluminum radiator off of ebay. I didn't feel like spending 400 on a fluidyne. But I will be sure to let you know how much that drops the coolant temps(if it drops them at all). I also purchased an autometer water temp gauge, so I can see exactly what temps I'm running without looking at the logger, or havin to go by the shitty stock temp gauge. That is the last thing I can think of in my battle against high coolant temps.

My neighbor with a GST and massive front mount is suffering from running hot as well. He will reach from 230-235 sitting in traffic. He has done everything I've suggested except for the fog light mod (he has an aftermarket front bumper) and the shrouding.

Let me know if you need pictures or anything. I know high coolant temps leads to high underhood temps, and loss of performance. Damn Im drunk. good luck man.

its WELL over 100* here and i have NEVER seen anything above 215* temps... no matter how long i sit in traffic... when i run the fans, i'm under 200* even when its over 100* outside... and my Front mount isn't smaller then anyone elses... and i have not doen any type of ducting or anything... i thought about it, but just couldnt bring myself to lose the fogs...
