nissan sentra hard startinglyndonism 05-14-2008, 02:20 PM we changed the plugs and coolant sensor but still it's starting hard in the morning or when the engine cooled down, i need to hit the gas everytime im having hard starting just to make it start. i was thinking it could be the gas pump but my mechanics said its not the gas pump. Chiquae07 05-15-2008, 07:22 PM is it the starter? apparently wou should be getting spark as you just changed the plugs. are the wires corrotted or anything? when was the last time you changed the rotor and cap? lyndonism 05-16-2008, 09:28 AM there's no rotor cap for my nissan, it's a direct ignition as they call it. there's no corrotion on the wiring. the hard starting happens or it didnt start at all when the engine is cold. sometimes I have to pump gas just to help it start. the starter is good you can hear a good cranks but theres no fire. FixUrNissan 05-16-2008, 04:32 PM there is a fuel pump repair kit for long crank / hard start when cold. There is a fuel pressure regulator that takes to long to build pressure, thats why there is a repair kit. The fuel pump assy has to be removed and taken apart to replace the parts that are part of the kit. It can be a little tricky, but cheaper than buying a new fuel pump assy.
