How to change rear struts on a 2002 Altima?bobss396 05-14-2008, 01:35 PM I just picked up an '02 with 70k miles. The car is very clean, runs great and I'm happy with the gas mileage. However, I'm a stranger to foreign cars and have not worked on that many. The ride is a little harsher than my old domestic gas guzzler and I'm wondering if new struts (especially the rears) would help. How difficult is it to change the stuts in the driveway? I have a well equipped garage and have worked on cars for years. I have floor jacks, jack stands, air tools, you name it. Or am I better off having it done by a pro? Its not a question of money, I like to be able to do some work on all of my cars. Thanks, Bob xplodn 08-11-2008, 10:56 AM Is it the V6? If so the ride is signifigantly rougher than the I4 model. The struts are pretty straight forward, got to pull the trunk liner, and I think after the wheel and brakes are off its just 5 bolts, two on bottom and 3 up top. make sure you get the coil compressor from checker/autozone though as you will need them. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
