Slave Cylinder? possibly??

When I first got my Eclipse, the pedal was hard because of the ACT 2600 that was installed on the car. Now the pedal is super easy push in like there's no resistance. When I push the clutch in fast I noticed that the clutch engages with little lift of the pedal. Now the other day I pulled into the driveway I went to put it into reverse and it didn't want to go in. I got her into the garage and checked the fluid level and it was fine but the color of the fluid threw me off, it was a dark blackish almost burnt kind of. So I checked the slave cylinder and it seemed like it had a lot more play then I thought it should, it went in and out way toooo easily. I could also grab shift fork and move it about 3/8 of an inch, is that bad? I had a buddy of mine push in the clutch and nothing happened and when he let off the pedal, it stuck to the floor. What do you guys think is the problem? I didn't see and fluid on the floor and none on the ground. When I pulled back the boot on the slave cylinder there was a lot of dirt/dust and a lite amount of fluid mixed inside the boot. Wouldn't the boot be filled w/ fluid if it was bad? I need help asap w/ this issue. please help everyone w/ some experience.

EDIT how hard is it to rebuild a slave if that is the issue?

It's easy as pie to fix a slave. Also the fluid that would leak into the boot would be forced out through the shaft hole of the boot because that boot is only a dust cover really and not so much a high pressure seal. I would be looking in some other spots. Also if the pedal has no spring - sounds like a Master. In which case is also an easy rebuild. As far as fork play - it's fine.

I was super worried about the shift fork since that would require a lot more work then just replacing the master and slave. So Should I just look into replacing both perhaps? I mean it wouldn't hurt to replace them since they will go bad eventually.

Might as well. Also the discolored fluid would lead me to think there is a comtamination spot in one or the other so might as well start fresh and new. You can get the slaves online for around 20 - ish if you look in the right spots and then just go with a master rebuild kit. Should be a spring , a clip and a seal :/ and possibly a new piston.
