Preventing hydrolock

Since it's still the hydrolock problem i had.. and my engine comes in today  i thought i'd post this one here too..
so i'm gonna buy a CAI bypass valve, but the AEM one is almost $50 bucks and i'm really short on that green stuff lately.. anyone have experience or opinions about the ebay ones?

i know it's cheap, but the same concept applies, it's a filter within the engine compartment. worth it or not? it's a lot cheaper and still looks.. semi-legit..
ps. soon will be posting the installing my new engine thread, just you wait.. should i post it here or under projects???

actually another question, while i posted this one.. it has nothing to do with the bypass.. but..
the company that is sending me the new engine (reman. ofcourse) called me up and told me i had to take the oil pan out and turn the rod bearings 1/4 or a turn, or 90 degrees with an 11mm wrentch.. uhh which way am i supposed to turn these? i've never messed with them before

I really don't think those bypasses work. If you hydrolocked before, why still do a full CAI. I would do a short ram or at least cut it up so the filter sits higher.
If you're looking at the cams, turn clockwise.

Yea why not just cut your pipe so the filter is higher and you wont have to spend a dime.
I dont know what they mean about the rod bearings. You may want to call them and get that cleared up.

I agree with the short-ram idea. Cheaper than the AEM bypass, and WAY cheaper than hydrolocking another motor over minimal performance gains.

Short ram is alot easier and cheaper in my opinion. My cai goes all the way into the front bumper, but I always have dirt on the top part of the filter.
