1995 Beretta Z26 3.1L Idle probs jbmx4life 05-13-2008, 12:59 AM
I have been havin problems with my car idling too high once it gets up to operating temp or have just come off the highway. I put it in "PARK" amd the RPM's are between 1000-1500 and if I let the car sit for long enough it will turm on the SES light. I was going to try and check the codes with the paper-clip method but I can only find 2 plugs within the connector. The plugs are one on top of the other all the way at the right side. The rest of the 10 spots on the plug have nothing in them. Is this normal or am I missing something here. TIA. Jeremy chevyrulespops 05-18-2008, 10:37 AM Take it to Pepboys they wil scan it for free...I would suspect that your IAC motor is going bad.... let us know jbmx4life 06-17-2008, 10:01 AM Sorry no Pepboys here and Autozone will only scan OBD2 cars 1996 and newer. I changed the fuel filter and the problem went away. The fuel filter was really bad. Blue Bowtie 06-18-2008, 08:01 AM Many 1994 & 1995 GM vehicles used a hybrid ECM/PCM which was not completely OBDII compliant, but had all the functionality of an OBDII system. These years require a scanner which can communicate with the PCM, and not just a jumper wire. Most OBDII scanners cannot access them. Find someone with a Tech II or SnapOn MT-2500 and you should be able to find the codes. As for the initial problem, I'd suspect a vacuum leak. Common places on the 3.1 V-6 are the PCV line and the rubber bushing for the vacuum T fitting on top of the throttle body base. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
