ok, i got a 2002 olds alero with no dash, parking, or daytime driving lights. the headlights and high beams are working though. i was driving it last night when the service vehicle soon light came on and then the dash lights went out. then a few minutes later someone pulled up next to me and told me my parking lights were out. i checked all the fuses and the #19 mini relay (auto parking lamp) in the fuse block located in the engine bay. it clicks when i turn the switch but nothing happens. i did a search through the threads for a solution and the only one with a fix was bad parking lamp relay replacement. all the other ones had no clear solution to the problem. is this #19 mini fuse the actual parking light relay? or is there another relay somewhere else i havent found yet. thanks for any help.

Sounds like the auto light sensor relay is out, or the fuse is bad.

Do they work when you turn on your headlights manualy ??

And all the fuses and relays are marked on the appropriate lids, and they are also shown in your cars owners manual.

Good Luck

my headlights work fine when i turn them on manually, just no parking, dash, or daytime running lights, and the service vehicle soon light comes on as soon as i turn the switch on. is there a cluster of relays somewhere else in the car besides the one in the engine bay?? i checked all those already. and the one on the side of the dash too. i had a similar problem with my turn signals on my starion a couple months ago. my hazard light switch went bad and made my turn signals to not work at all. im thinking the same thing is happening here.

Thier are 3 fuse boxes, one on each end of the dash and one under the hood.

All the relays & fuses(maxi's too) pertaining to the lights should be checked in the under hood fuse box.
If your DRL's are not working, then that relay is bad or shorted out due to corrosion on the contacts.

If your ALC isnt working , then its fuse or relay may also be bad.

Do you have any low or high beams burnt out ?
That will cause the SVS light to trip.

your DRL's only work during the day with the car in a forward gear.

If youre still having issues with your dash check these fuses.
drivers side fuse box, H, K, & N.
Under hood fuse box, #3, 19, 20, 22 & 46 which is for your DRL's(but it sounds like they are OK)

Hope that helps.

i've removed and checked every fuse that i have come accross. they are all ok. im thinking there is a relay hidden somewhere under the dash that i havent located yet.

19, 20, 22 are micro relays .. if that doesnt resolve your issue you might need a Stealership to scan for the SVS as thier are many reasons it would come on and stay on.

A bad BCM will cause this, it happend to my GA GT from the sun roof drains leaking onto my interior fuse boxes'.. :banghead:

Good Luck

i was hoping not to have to go to the stealership, but its looking like thats what im goin to have to do. i'll post their solution if and when i get it up there this week.

One other thing to check would be your dimmer switch, on the left of the steering wheel.
If it's bad or unpluged your dash lights may not work.. just a thought before you take it in somewhere.
