On the 92-96, it should be on the passenger side, rear engine area, below the firewall and mounted in the fuel line. From the top side of engine area, look down & below the A/C evaporator housing. Only way to access it is from underneath the car. Be sure to bleed fuel pressure from the fuel rail before changing filter!

There are several ways to relieve the fuel pressure. It is best to do this when the engine is cold and the car has been sitting over night. (Fuel pressure will be lower). Loosen the fuel filler cap to relieve tank vapor pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable.

1) The prefered method is to use a fuel pressure gage with a bleed hose and simply attach it to the Schrader valve located on the fuel rail, or pressure regulator. Install the bleed hose into an approved container and open the valve to bleed the system pressure. Use a shop towel to absorb any residual fuel when attaching the hose!

2) An alternate method is to remove the fuel pump fuse (20 amp) that is located under the lower passenger side dash, near the kick panel. Start the engine to relieve pressure. There should be a legend on the fuse panel cover, which shows what each fuse is used for. BTW, before removing the filter, disconnect the negative battery terminal. Don’t forget to install the FP fuse when complete.

3) This is not a recommended method, but most people just use a shop towel and a small Phillips-head screwdriver to depress the Schrader valve and relieve the pressure into the towel. Engine must be cold and NO SMOKING ALLOWED! Leave the shop towel in the open air to allow evaporation of excess fuel. Always use safety glasses when working around pressurized fuel!

When the repairs to the fuel system are complete, reconnect the negative battery cable and turn the ignition switch to ON. You should here the fuel pump run for two seconds. (prime mode) Now, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, with a slight pause, then back to the ON position. You should have full line pressure now. Check all connections that were serviced for possible leaks. If everything checks OK, it is now safe to start the engine.
