98 5.7 starting problem

my 98 would run just after i turned the key and then quit. It finally started and ran fine. I checked the battery connections and found the + lead loose. changed out the bad parts and now the truck starts fine. I can hear the pump running and it also runs for two seconds after I shut it off. It has always done that. I have to make a 350 mile run and don't want to have the truck die in this part of the country. Would the loose connection cause the pump to quit after the ignition is turned back to run position rather than start position?

I'd check the fp here as these pumps commonly fail, 60-65 psi.

i would start the truck then unhook the pos terminal. if it stays running thats not the problem. if it shuts off then check the alternator, my 92 sonoma had a bad alternator so as soon as i unhooked the jumper cables or bat. it would die
