I heard clunking noise coming from the front end. mostly at highway speeds. And my alignment was off. The engine cradle on the passenger side (rf) of my '99 windstar has rusted to the point that it has completely broken due to the air conditioning drain dripping on it. All other mounts look good. It's unsafe to drive and so it's parked until repairs can be made. I can't believe a nine year old vehicle should have frame rust trouble. Look at your cradle mounts to see if you have the same problem. It is an accident waiting to happen. Anyone else having this problem too?

I feel the same way. I have a 1998 Chevy Metro with frame rot and it's not fair to a consumer who buys a vehicle that will be rotted away in ten years.

I am sure there are more. There is one car that does not rot away and that is a 1996 and up Volvo of any model. I never even seen a brake or fuel line rust on one of these magnificent vehicles.

For the cost of a short length of drain hose, the problem could be avoided ... we wouldn't expect the manufacturer to anti-up for that. The ac drainage can be very close to pure water ... very corrosive. I plan to change out my subframe (already purchased) because it is badly bent up also.

Our 2000 MPV has an even worse condition of rust due to ac drainage.

Wonder why there's no safety recall or concern on it. This could cause a deadly accident if the cradle fails while driving. I use the van to haul my family around town and on drives to the grandparents a hour away. I would have never known about it if my alignment wasn't off.

Holy crap..

If the Area Near the Rusted away part is good and thick, Get a Good Welder guy and some plate steel. Repaint etc etc. Hoping its not rusted away near any suspension joints, This way you can repair it with little cost.

That really is insane, and sorry to hear about it.
