Hi,

My girlfriend drives a 2005 honda civic ex. Her stock stereo sound goes in and out. It'll be playing and suddenly you'll stop the sound. The stereo itself seems to be working. The CD player keeps in spinning just like normal, but the sound cuts out. Is something being shorted out?

Could be a poor solder connection inside the head-unit. ( not likely an easy fix)

You could try to reseat the connector at the back of the head-unit (not likely to resolve)
