2000 blazer dome light question

Have researched previous posts about dome lights staying on and having to use override switch to turn off, however that does not answer my question. The convenience group lighting activates from a door switch somewhere near the handle and not by a door pin switch. I am trying to get information on the switch location and how it operates. I have an intermittent problem that appears to be a sticking switch or loose conductors, but I need to know where to start looking at. Same symptoms as previously discussed, unable to lock driver door electrically while vehicle key on, radio and power windows cut off as soon as the key is shut off, not staying on until door is opened. Any help appreciated.

The switch that operates the illuminated entry is located in the exterior door handle, and can be serviced separately. The trim panel must be removed to service the switch. If the switch is stuck in the closed position, or if a pillar switch is stuck in the closed position, or the trigger wire is shorted to ground anywhere in the vehicle, and the engine is not running, the dome lights will remain illuminated for approximately 10 minutes. If the engine is running, the lights will remain on unless you activate the overide switch. Any time the key is in the ignition, the power locks will not lock the driver door, (safety feature).

Thanks for info. I realize that the door panel has to come off, and I think I remember 2 screws that hold the door handle ass'y in place, but do any linkages have to be removed? Also, is the switch something that parts counter would have or can get fairly easily? Appreciate the help.

Linkage will need to be removed, but they just snap into plastic retainers. Study it and carefully pop it off. The switch is probably only available at the dealer.
