Auto Choke Heating Line? CoughlinJ 05-04-2008, 01:14 PM
Hey all, While tying up some loose ends on my vacuum system, I noticed a loose line that I think ran from the carb to the manifold. I looked it up and I think it's the line that heats the automatic choke. Not sure, but I was wondering if anyone might have had experiance with this. I run a 300 I6 4.9l F150 1982. *edit I'll snap a few pictures to show what I'm talking about. If you click on the thumbnails, it'll take you to the full size pictures. http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/46/080504131532ie8.th.jpg (http://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=080504131532ie8.jpg) http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/8959/080504131544cn1.th.jpg (http://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=080504131544cn1.jpg) inafogg 05-04-2008, 03:49 PM Hello, sounds like ur right.if u r trying to repair some times u can reconnect to ex. manifold it just needs to be touching to transfer heat to carb.not to sure but may still be able to order a new one or scrap yard GOOD LUCK Torch 06-08-2008, 01:32 AM I used to have a 77 F-250 with the 460CID V8 engine, it too had exhaust heated tubes that fed heat up into the choke on the carb. worked great for as simplistic as it was. CoughlinJ 06-08-2008, 01:54 AM yeah, turns out the entire choke assembly on the carb was shot to hell. pulled an old one off of a junker, and my baby flew like new. the line actually was the aux fresh air intake.
