HKS Outlaw Drag SupraMorpheus XIII 10-16-2001, 09:37 PM HKS has built yet another drag racer, this time a JZA80 Supra for the 400 meter dash. Powering it is a heavily modified 4.3L V-8 from the upscale Soarer/Celsior/Lexus, including twin-turbochargers. It made it's presence at the 2001 Tokyo Auto Salon, utterly stealing the show. So, japanese drag racecars are finally stepping into the V-8 world, but will they be quicker than our muscle cars? Hopefully. Morpheus XIII 10-16-2001, 09:40 PM A shot from the Tokyo Auto Salon 2001: Morpheus XIII 10-16-2001, 09:42 PM Warming up. Expect to see some results on October 21st: SuprLover69 10-25-2001, 12:58 AM What it the link to were you got those pictures from I wan the specs Morpheus XIII 10-26-2001, 03:06 AM The sites (including HKS of Japan (http://www.hks-power.co.jp)) have no specifications on this car. I've obsessively searched the internet but found no results on what this car is capable of. Some sources state that it will run mid-to-low 7s, but I don't know whether this is a 1/4 mile or 0-400 meter estimate. Perhaps HKS had been keeping it under wraps for now, but also consider that it's racing agenda has only just begun. Expect to see much more data further down the line. Speedfreak17 11-02-2001, 11:27 AM Nice Supra !! Z06Lover 01-03-2002, 06:57 PM Originally posted by Morpheus XIII HKS has built yet another drag racer, this time a JZA80 Supra for the 400 meter dash. Hopefully. well, if you figure in NHRA they have rules about super street cars like have to have full interior, have to weigh around 3000 lbs, can't use turbos and things likethat....and they still run in the 6's!! No 8's or 9's..i'm talking 6's!! :D The drag imports have their work cut out for them. Going with a higher displacement motor is a start. Morpheus XIII 01-03-2002, 11:48 PM There's no question about that. Sometimes I have to tear my hair out trying to convince some strongheaded import tuners that there is still NO true replacement for displacement. Mahony 09-03-2002, 04:54 PM Hey T'72-2JZ, do you have any info on that Supra you posted a pic of? EG; where can you get those clear rear lights from...? :bloated: Z06Lover 09-03-2002, 05:44 PM anyone know the true weight of this thing? but until the japanese can do this: http://dragindon.com/2001_results.html naturally aspirated 1200+ HP over 1600 with NOS no turbos no FI what-so-ever the drag kings will still be domestics. This is not tuner car either. This is just some dudes car. he drove it clear into the states for a drag race too. It is completely street legal. Fastest N/A street legal car in the world. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
