Hey guys. So I tried to turn the a/c on the other day and the little green light turns on, but thats it. Normally you could feel the difference in the engine and how its running when you turn it on, I felt nothing at all. Just the regular blowing that comes through the vents with the regular fan setting. I know it worked a couple of months ago in the winter because I used it for defrosting a few times, but now nothing, any ideas?

No A/c Gas Thats Why. Just Hit The Store For The Quike Filler Up Bottles With The Gauge Attached And Watch Gauge To Make Sure You Do Not add The Freon To Fast: Green Good, Yellow Slow It Down, Red Back The Fuck Off. Use Tee Handle To Tap Can And Control The Speed You Are Adding. If You Add To Fast You Could Rupture Seals In The Compressor. Get Two Cans And Second Can Could Take Time .MAKE SURE A/C IS RUNNING FULL BLAST BEFORE ADDING. A/C WILL KICK IN WHEN STARTING CHARGE ..... Be Cool Now

I recharged it last summer, I dont think low freon would cause the Compressor not to come on at all when turned onto AC.......you should still hear the click and the engine will rev higher but it will blow warm air..............Cody? Any input?

well then check relays, plug at compressor, switches , vaccum to dash, and the normal stuff BUT low /no freon will keep the compressor from kicking on.....just put on compressor and dry/ accumaloter myself last weekend 97 z24 cavi

1-can of freon and filler guage 12.00
someone to do it for you 50.00
doin it your self priceless.........some times, see sig

Thanks for the quick response, I guess it's something I can really try this weekend. Any tips on that?

Just one more thing, does anyone have a pic or diagram that can help locate the compressor and the connection that I need to add the freon?
Thanks

Anyone actually knwo what could cause it to not turn on? no matter what if you turn the AC on, the compressor will click on and blow warm air, thats how you know to recharge it..........but mine wont click on...at all

hey sorry about slow down got my own issues.........any ways the 12.00 can will only fit on the low side of a/c port. It works kinda like a air compressor coulping find a plugin port on the car. start at compressor if you have to and follow line till you find a nipple or port like compressor end..... preferably the smaller of the two ports (the low side).plug the adapter on there with can already installed to adapter hose(most hoses are blue) the tee fitting on hose will have tee that will screw down into can putting hole in can ...leave there till you get hooked up on a/c port then open tee handle slowly. filling a/c . you must have a/c running/on before it will enter a/c system. After about 30 seconds to 1 minute your a/c does not kick on then you must look some where else for a problem
the elec connection for a/c is at the a/c compressor its self.....good luck and be safe

Well I gave it a shot. It was low and I got it back up to blue, but it never kicked in.

If the refrigerant is too low you won't hear anything because you need that pressure to close the switch to send power to the compressor..no power,,,no click

check and see if you have power at the compressor.if you have power and ground your coil is bad. if no ground, repair it. if no power check the low pressure switch, high pressure switch and compressor relay

easiest way to check the relay is swap with the relay next to it (Fuel pump), if you swap and the car will still run then the relay from the a/c must be good. don't forget to check the 10A fuse right near the relay. Also is the radiator fan coming on when you have the a/c on? I just got my a/c going the other but my prob was the selector wasn't working, I thought that a vac line came off the back of the knob so I tore down the dash. turns out it was a broken vac line under the hood:banghead: . It was a pain but I was happy to get it done, it was 95 degrees the other day:iceslolan ! anyways good luck.

I have this same problem. Air worked last summer/fall and then one day just stopped. I have only attempted to change the A/C relay but that is it. The temp control appears to be working as the green light can be turned on and off, yet the compressor does not engage.

Seems per this forum, my best bet is to attempt to recharge, which I can do but what type of coolant do I get?
