3800 "C" into "L" code 92 olds

Hi, I'm trying to put an older 3800 about 89 or 90 into a 1992 Olds. I'm pretty sure the L coded motor got severely overheated and is losing compression between the front head and block. I have a 89 or so 3800 that has an 1 piece intake, and a EGR valve, that runs good. The 1992 is a 2 piece manifold and plenum, and I can't see if it even has a EGR. It appears that I would swap the 92's 2 piece into the older long block? I would imagine that would do it? crank and cam sensors, most everything else looks like a go. Any input would be appreciated, as I'm trying to get together a charity driver for someone. Thanks, Artie

Could someone look in the Hollander for interchanges? At least cyl. head, are the head gaskets the same between the 2 years engine codes, and crank to flex-plate. Want to know if I should scrap it? I have a LG3 complete, ready to long-block the L code, I would appreciate someone sheading some direction. Thanks, Artie

I doubt if anyone has a Hollander book at their disposal on our forums, maybe , maybe not. A phone call to any local salvage will tell you cyl head and block interchanges out of their books.
