Mod for the AISN Warn tranny on 87 4x4 Toy

I was talking to a fellow gear head yesterday about my engine overhaul on my 87 4x4 Toy truck. Something came up I was knem nothing about and figured the good folks here could help. He mentioned that since the motor was coming out I might consider the mod on the tranny. He commented the that the bearing on the input shaft was too small and when it went south it would transfer all the vibration to the rest of the tranny. This, in turn, would take out the rest of the tranny. He also commented that it was a pricey tranny to replace.
So...............If there is a mod that someone knows of concerning this I would be interested...

First off, what tranny do you have ? G52, W56 ?

Second, I believe the problem he was refering to was with the earlier L series trannies, the L52 used in the 83's in particular. The G series starting in 84 had a larger bearing.
