hi guys!

My 1988 Skylark should have morre power.
here a short explaination what i mean:
all above 130km/h the car needs a long time to get accerlate to higher speed but thats not the main problem.
first gear and accerlating up top 100km/h is relative slow and maybe there is something possible to get the car quicker speeding up.

somebody told me that a supercharger of the 3.8 buick engines could fit.

maybe there are other tuning possibilities??

what is possible and what would it cost?

thank you all for answers

The engines are basically the same. Whether this 20 year old engine can stand the pressure of running with a supercharger is the question. Also, you may require other unknown modifications to use this setup like computer related controls.

I would suggest that you do a total rebuild on this worn out engine before deciding to do any power upgrades. You might end up with more problems and expense than you want to deal with. A supercharger creates more pressure in the cylinders and if gaskets or rings are bad, you could loose the entire engine.

You might be suprised how much power you would have after a rebuild and not have to spend money for extras.

You may be low on power due to a plugged catalytic converter or collapsed muffler ( internally collapsed ).

Made alot of short trips to the corner store? Are you sure of the mileage or has the speedo been reset or replaced? You might just have good old car.

Back to the question at hand. The sensors are pretty much no issue here. You might find a hot computer chip on the market/online or at an auto parts store. The chip allows the computer to make the necessary adjustments to any sensors, modules and anything else it requires to improve performance.

Just make sure the plugs, wires are in good shape.

hi!

car has the milage i'm sure, cause my grandfather has bought as new car in swizerland (europe)

plugs and wires are new.... hmmm chip-tuning for this car should be very difficult.....

i'm thinking of having a original cool car and no burner :P

I think i won't do any tuning cause it seems to be very difficult

thanks a lot
