'97 Cav computer reset

I have replaced several sensors on my '97 Cav to solve a rough idle issue. It appears to have worked, but I have been told to reset the computer as a final step. How is this accomplished? Someone said to "disconnect the battery and depress the brake pedal for 30 seconds". What will this do if the battery is disconnected? I have also been told to "turn the key on and floor the accelerator pedal 5 times in 5 seconds". I feel like I'm being sent on a search for a left handed screw driver! Can the computer actually be reset, and if so, what is the proper proceedure?

reset computer by disconnecting the ground on battery. to reset oil light on some models key on depress brake or accelerator petal that is the deal.
Or on some models you can just take out fuse to ecm and that does the trick without reseting clock and radio stuff
