little light by the alt guage 94 PA

There's a little red light that's coming in sporatically. There doesn't seem to be any change in performance when it happens. However, when braking hard to a stop, the guage will go to the negative side...engine wants to quit...then it comes back. Excelorates fine. Does this sound like a regulator or the alternator?

read this because i'm having a simular problem with the red light either flickering or staying on for a bit. but haven had the volt gauge drop when breaking hard. i'd check for a loose connection on the alternator or look for something shorting to ground near the battery, if the batery isnt securly in place it could be sliding forward or tipping and hitting something. then setteling back in place once vehicle has stopped. good luck
