http://www.clickclickracing.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif HAVE A 87 RANGER WITH A 1980 5.0 & AOD ,BOUGHT IT 5 DAYS AGO..
THE TRANS HAS A B&M SHIFT KIT

HERES THE PROBLEMS...

FROM A STOP i TAKE OFF AND THE TRANS WILL SHIFT 1-2-3- BEFORE 20 MPH,NO MATTER HOW MUCH THROTTLE I GIVE IT.. <WITH NO SLIPPAGE >

IT GOES INTO OVERDRIVE AT 40 AND SLIPS GOING IN,THEN CATCHES,IF ACCELERATING A LITTLE HEAVY,IT SLIPS WHEN IN OVERDRIVE..

THE TV CABLE IS MISSING,THERES A SPRING HOLDING THE TV LEVER ON THE TRANS TOWARDS THE ENGINE..

I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE KICK DOWN WORKS ON A AOD,IF ITS LIKE A THROTTLE PRESSURE OR JUST FOR PASSING GEAR...

ANYONE KNOW THE FIX FOR THIS TRANS??http://www.clickclickracing.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

:runaround: Sorry 'bout that; hold on while I pull my foot out of my mouth....OK all set.

Looks like you and I are the only ones in this seemingly *dead* forum. As I learn more about Ford hopefully I will be able to offer educated help in the future!

Good luck with your question.

I had a 1985 Ford T-B with a 302 and AOD if I remember correctly it used rods
and it could be adjusted on the side of the transmission. I don't remember any cables.
I will have to look at my factory manual in the garage.
I checked and refreshed my memory. The cable goes to the accelerator pedal. Next to is is the shift rod it goes down to the transmission. It goes through a connector which looks like a nut with a small bolt in it.
Mark it and move it appx. 1/8 inch if it gets better make small changes until it is correct. If worse go the other way.
Go to a junk yard and get the proper linkage. A big problem area is plastic bushings wearing out at the throttle body. The Ford dealer sells them.
Send me a private email and I think I can scan and email you a diagram.
