MFH Ferrari 126 C4 Begium 1984

After the 126 CK from 1981 I got tempted to continue with the 126 C4 - Belgium winner 1984. I have always liked that car. It is also interesting to see the progress done in 3 years by Ferrari. One major improvement is the general introduction of Carbon – obvious inspired by the McLaren MP 4/1.
I faced different major problems:
- The kit is several years older than the (last edition) 126 CK and the quality of the 126 CK is by far better. MFH quality has been improving a lot in the meantime. Fit could be worse, but also better. Worst area is all the parts concerning the exhaust, where major surgery was required. :banghead:
- Instructions are bad and unclear compared to 126 CK.:banghead:
- Tires are bad compared to 126 CK. I used some Tamiya spares instead.:evillol:
- For some reason it is almost impossible to find good technical reference material for this version. Problem is the Belgium car is “early” version and it was heavily modified twice during the season. Therefore many details are almost impossible for me to figure out and sometimes I have simply used my imagination to decide how it should look like. Not what I like. :nono: The 126 CK Monaco 1981 was by comparison not a problem – lots of excellent technical pictures (and that car ALSO changed a lot during the season).
Anyhow the kit is in many ways a very good kit and it has been possible for me to get through. Major work is to cut all the carbon. I have used the 1:12 carbon from F1Specialties, which I like a lot and which is a good match for that car. Problem is I have run out of carbon and is waiting for a new supply. So instead I try to finish all the other parts.

Nice...so it's Hiro time once more :-)
Good start. While you wait for the CF are you gonna polish the clear on the bodywork a bit!? Your other work deserves it:-)
Looking forward to see mroe progress!

Nice start Allan, especially the different tones you have used on the engine to show the different materials. I think the late 70s/early 80s Ferraris make excellent models.

P.S. Your photographs need the White Balance adjusting; the light you are using to illuminate the subject is very yellow.
