Well soon im gonna buy a car (not my first) and im thinking of driving an eclipse until im 20-21 then off to buy a real boss car like a G35 or a mercedes, anyways its a really nice car for the price, 3-5 gran for one in good condition right? But a couple of people ecently told me that they always have problems and shits always happening to them. So this is why im here asking actual eclipse drivers to confirm this. So do they?

I daily drive a fairly quick 140k DSM. Only 20k on the motor, but maintenance is where its at.

For giggles, research 2 other types of cars online and compare the percentage of posts that are "stupid POS car..." versus "I love my car". People use the Web to sound off on problems.

Any car needs maintenance. Any non-maintained car will need more maintenance.

If the car is taken care of well, not constantly beat on and regular maintanence is done then you should have no problems. People who dont take car of their cars and abuse them have the problems and then complain about how shitty the car is. A few people do have bad luck and stuff tends to break often but that doesn't happen much.

A lot of the problems are created by the previous owner and there driving habits. If your looking for a reliable car then look for a DSM that was owned by and old guy or old lady (although the majority may be automatic) because in most cases they have taken care of every bad sound the car has ever made and you will have little to no trouble w/ those type of cars. But as earlier stated some people just have bad luck such as my last car, was owned by an older lady and taken care of very well but ran into a lot of problems but I think a lot of those problems stemmed from the fact that it was a Ford. Good luck and keep us informed w/ what do.

A matter of opinion. Also depends on how hard in general you are on cars. A eclipse can be as reliable or as unreliable as any other car just depends on how you treat it and your experience or lack of with vehicles.
