about 2 years ago I purchased this car from an older gentleman as a means of reliable transportation. I've noticed the air suspension has begun pumping almost incessantly! and I realize this is no easy job, and frankly I have no clue what I'm looking at here. Monroe offers the replacement part for about 85 a part... but I'll need to pay somebody to replace them for me (no tools/time/or knowledge). I'm in Monterey, CA. I've been told this will be out of this world expensive, and maybe more than I payed for the car (1500). What do you guys think? What does something like this typically cost? Sheesh I'm worried.

Just disconnect the compressor. My '89 Olds 98 had the compressor disconnected, all you lose is the self-leveling,which is nice to have, but not worth that much to fix.
