Passenger window slow from driver switch only A-Dog 04-13-2008, 07:17 PM
Howdy.. The passenger window on my 98 GTP goes up and down very slowly when pushing the botton on the drivers door. when using the button on the passenger side, it goes up and down much faster...almost normal speed. Any thoughts on what exactly the problem would and on which side of the car it's on? Thanks folks.. A grandprixgtx00 04-13-2008, 09:44 PM have you taken the switch out and checked the contacts? they may be dirty or corroded... Mickey#1 04-13-2008, 10:13 PM & it could be either switch. A-Dog 04-13-2008, 11:12 PM have you taken the switch out and checked the contacts? they may be dirty or corroded... No I haven't done that yet, is it easy to do? Do you just pry it up? grandprixgtx00 04-13-2008, 11:26 PM No I haven't done that yet, is it easy to do? Do you just pry it up? yeah, fairly easy to do. just be careful FYI the clips are pretty cheap and real easy to break A-Dog 04-13-2008, 11:33 PM yeah, fairly easy to do. just be careful FYI the clips are pretty cheap and real easy to break Coool. thanks! I just ordered one off ebay for $40. So I don't need to take off the door panel or anythin big like that? Just gently pry it up and replace? grandprixgtx00 04-13-2008, 11:36 PM oh, so you just ordered a new one? i would have tried to clean the contacts first before buying a new one, but i suppose $40 isnt too bad as long as you bought a new one, it SHOULD come with new clips...so you shouldnt have to even worry about breaking the clips on the old one. A-Dog 04-21-2008, 11:38 PM Well neither the contacts were corroded on the original switch, and a new switch didn't make any difference...the passenger window is still slow from the drivers switch only. Any other thoughts? Mickey#1 04-22-2008, 02:17 AM & it could be either switch. When using the driver's switch power goes through the passenger switch to get to ground. A-Dog 04-22-2008, 08:38 AM When using the driver's switch power goes through the passenger switch to get to ground. So you're saying it could be the switch on the passenger side, even though the window moves fine when activated by the passenger switch? I'll take that switch out this weekend and check the contacts. Mickey#1 04-22-2008, 10:00 AM So you're saying it could be the switch on the passenger side, even though the window moves fine when activated by the passenger switch? That's correct. I'll post a wiring diagram shortly. Mickey#1 04-22-2008, 10:25 AM Here's the diagram. I can explain how it works if needed/wanted. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa182/MikeTu/GPpowerwindows.jpg Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
