I have a 98 custom and about once per month or so the car will stall when i try to start it. I turn the key and it starts up and immediatly stalls unless i hold my foot on the gas. Then when i take my fot off of the gas it stalls again. If i take out the key and wait a few seconds and then restart it again while giving it gas so that the RPMs go up to about 3000 and hold it about five seconds the car wont stall. the car will then again be fine for another month or so. This has been happening on and off for a year or so now. nybody know what this problem is?

Any error codes?

Running a cold started engine to 3,000 RPM is probably considerably shortening the life of the engine. Perhaps your new engine will run better. In other words, fix this problem before you do any more of this high RPM starting.

I havent had the car checked for error codes. The check engine light does not come on.
