Help !!!!!!!!!!!Kunundrum 03-02-2003, 10:21 AM I am in process of replacing my head gasket But I can't get the M@THERF@CKING Head off the block. Got all the bolts out and I have it kinda loose where a little leftover coolant is leaking from the small gap. what do I do now ? nes1chil 04-26-2003, 05:01 PM you need to make sure there are no other objects outside of the head that could be blocking it from coming off. i am assuming that you took off the cam shaft and spark plugs and all that. and you need to make sure you took off all the head bolts, including the end caps and the really hard to reach bolts, not the coolant plugs in the middle (the big hex heads) you could try rotating the crank around incase of a stuck valve or something. or if it looks rusty or like high temp rtv was used try some rust penetrant or gasket remover. you probably just need to hit it to knock it loose. use a piece of wood between the head and the hammer, hit along top in all four corners and then on the sides. if you still can't get it off, then something must be really wrong. crmex 06-01-2003, 09:52 PM :bandit: try using a long pry bar or a really big flat tip screw driver to gently pry off the head. Don't pry between the head & the block! try to lever the head off by interlocking the "prybar" on the intake manifold bolts & the exhaust manifold studs, & pull up. be careful not to bend the bolts because chances are they are old & a bitch to extracate if they brake. a liitle clever english or spanish in my case always helps too. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
