Welcome to AF!!

When you replaced the blower motor you should have replaced the blower motor resistor. You can purchase one at a GM dealer. You will have to remove the blower motor to get to the resistor but once replaced the issue should go away.

check this (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=5698133#post5698133) thread out, I believe this may be your problem. you say you hear a clicking noise, and your lights go out right?

pretty common problem on the GP's...

If the blower only works on high(5)the blower motor resistor is bad! Trust me on this one. If 1,2,3,4 worked but not 5 then I would suspect the ignition or the fan itself.

Based on my experiences Lynn you can get varying symptoms on a bad blower motor resistor (BMR) on the manual single and dual zone climate control systems.

I would suspect the BMR if fan positions 1-4 were non op and 5 worked. Also, if 5 worked and 1-4 was non-op. Also, if 1-4 and 5 were all non-op. Further, sometimes you may get only positions 1-3 and 4 and 5 non-op. On position 5 although voltage comes from the battery direct and technically not the ignition switch the blower motor high speed mini relay for position 5 is located on the BMR.

I would suspect the ignition switch right off over the BMR if there are accompanying symptoms like no DRL, headlights and IP flashing on and off with a clunking sound in the dash, no cruise control or cutting off, no hud, if equipped, no dic, etc. in addition to blower speeds 1-4 acting up.

If there are no other abnormal indications then the logical step is to replace the BMR first. At least to rule it out. If that doesn't work then go for the ignition switch.

I hope this wasn't too confusing. :uhoh:.....

yes, as Bnaylor has just stated, i would say the BMR (blower motor resistor) if there was nothing else accompanied by the blower motor, however...the OP has stated that the headlights also do not work...and hears a "clicking" noise coming from somewhere

I agree concerning the second poster's (swl1) issue.
