hey whats up guys.. i got one question..

last wednesday i started off and took off in my 03 ultra and after driving it about 1 minute...my service stability system came on my dash board..

it went away and hasnt came back since..

i have warranty with a 100 buck deductible.. it hasnt came back and its been a week.. should i take to the dealer??..

cause i remember my bro having a eldorado and when the service stability system came on.. it came on everytime the car got turned on and it basically stayed on...

thanks in advance!

You might take it to a place such as AutoZone or Knecht's, etc. first, to have the computer scanned to see if it stored any trouble codes.

If there are trouble codes stored, I would not delete them (I don't think that scanning them will delete them at the same time...I could be wrong). I would then take the car in to the dealer, telling them what you have and have the system serviced.

If there are no codes and the message doesn't return, I would not take it in. You will likely just pay whatever diagnostic fee the dealer will charge to look at the car, only to tell you that they could not reproduce the concern. I'm not sure if the warranty you have is GMPP or National or something like that (I've had both of those on our cars), but if the dealer spends a couple of hours doing diagnostic work (usually about $90/hour...at least in this area), but does not come up with a covered repair, the warranty will not apply and you'll have to pay the entire bill (not to mention the inconvenience of having your car in the shop for a day).

Hope this helps.

My '01 displays the "Service Stability System" warning every couple of months. It appears randomly and remains on for any amount of time from a few moments to as much as one day.

The warning message always turns off. It has never affected the performance of the vehicle. However, I'm not sure if Stabilitrak is disabled when in this warning mode.

Recently, a customer ahead of me at my local BPG dealer reported to the service writer that the same issue was happening in her Buick Ranier. Again.

I haven't got to the bottom of this one either.
