4.3 X to W mtr swap

Dose anyone Know what the diff. is between an X cod mtr and a W code mtr.. Thank You. I have a 97 s10 4x4 trk. with X code. I am trying to figure out why I cant install a 96-98 W code motor. Is the reluctor ring the difference? If I switch the reluctor and the distrib. I do know that there is a horse pwr diff and a cam diff. I was told by a GM mech. that the X runs 8 degrees advanced. I am going to rebuild my X , but would like ansers for future. Thanks

It'll have a different, 60psi fuel pump and a different computer. I've probably left a bunch of other items off too.

A good valve job done at a real raceshop along with their recommend on a more "spirited" camshaft will have you making enough power to break the transmission pretty quick.
