i recently pulled my 3.4 out of my 94 firebird noticed a head bolt broken off in the block which proly helped cause my antifreeze gettin in the oil i was just wondering if it would be harder or expensiver too just put a 3.8 in it as im not a fan of the 3.4 heh let me know wut it takes too do a 3.4 to 3.8 swap thanks

To do a 3.4 to 3.8 swap, it would require just as much work as it would to swap in an LT1 or LS1. Not worth the trouble.

i already have a LT1 for the car im just waiting on some more money lol o well ill just take the 3.4 into the machine shop have them drill out the broken bolt

forget putting the 3.8. forget swapping the lt1. they are both more work that their worth. sale the lt1 and the the car. then go buy a z28 or a t/a. you can find them all day for 3500 and under.

yea, but for 3500 or less your gonna get junk. at least around here. Dude it's really not that hard. just drop the lt1 in there.

actually not trying to be an ass but it is a hard swap. you cant just drop it in and go. First you have to get a k member and anything else its needs to sit in there right. Then you have to get a transmission that will bolt up. Not sure if your 3.4 will bolt up. Then get a wiring harness and an ecu/computer......good luck

not sure if the 3.4 is an aluminum block or not, but if it is you can weld to the stud and remove it without damaging the block b/c aluminum melts at a higher temp then steel. seemed odd to me when I first heard it, but I asked a few people and they said its true. for removing broken off studs I found a tool that works great at a hardware store, its a carbide tipped reverse drill bit, that when you drill in so far a collar catches the stud & removes it. Most studs break from over tightening, once the head isn't on them anymore they remove pretty easy (unless they are cross threaded).

this is why i never understood why ppl bought v6 f-bodies, or 4 banger stangs.. treat your self and buy the v8... It is a pain and will take time, but it's not hard. like physically demanding and mentally stressfull... A kid i knew in high school converted a 3800 firebird into a lt1 trans am. if that fat guido can do it anyone can.

It was a cheap, good looking first car. I don't need a 300 hp daily driver.. I'm perfectly content with my measly over rated 160 hp 3.4.

Not everyone is out to have a fast car. Those who are that have already bought a V6 would save a ton of money just by trading it in for a V8. Those who just want a little more oomph out of their V6 can easily mod it just as they can mod a V8. I personally couldn't ever see myself trading my V6 for a V8. It's been far too reliable for me to do that. That's all I need out of it.

i can see that view, but for some reason it just rubs me the wrong way when i see a v6 f-body. my initial response is disappointment.

actualy the Lt1 is out of a 94 same year as my car i have the dash wiring pcm underhood wiring tranny etc im just waiting on money for the K-member fuel pump suspension etc I only have too pay for parts since I and my father will do the work ourselves saving ne labor charges so its not gonna be so hard just waiting on some cash flow lol

And why not buy a v6 F-body I already have a 89 Firebird pushin about 405 hp and a 81 z28 with a 383 stroker in it so i wasnt woried about power also it was a cheap buy at only 1000 with a near flawless body

if you have two other sweet cars then i would just swap another 3.4 in for reliability.

I guess theres nothing wrong with v6 f-bodies, but i just get dissapointed when i see them, and i instantly think man i guess they couldn't afford the v-8.
