12 second Acura RSX?Carlow_80 02-28-2003, 01:43 PM A friend of mine has decided to buy a RSX type S and he wants to make a reliable street racer. He wants to turbo th car but he doesn't know what to do to make the car run these kind of ET's. Price is basically unlimited because he's a rich boy  so any and all ideas are welcome. GTi-VR6_A3 02-28-2003, 01:47 PM heres the truth and i am not being an anti honda biggot. the type s engine is already pushed to its limit from the factory. without serious work you wouldnt want to bother putting a turbp onto it. it can not handle much boost. try to convince him to get a diff car. if you did make it a racer it would never be streetable. just how it is. at least from what i have heard. sorry to sound like im pseaking fact. if i am wrong tell me but dont flame me. i only know a bit about honda compared to what i know of european american nissan and mitsu and toyota -GTi-VR6_A3 99maxse 02-28-2003, 02:11 PM hes better off getting a subaru wrx. it has room to expand .:D -The Stig- 02-28-2003, 04:57 PM Originally posted by 99maxse hes better off getting a subaru wrx. it has room to expand .:D Hmm if the RSX-Type S is as 'high strung' GTI_VR6_A3 says it is... Here's how I see it... A fully loaded RSX Type-S is near $27,000.... I say if he's a rich boy and wants to run 12's... might as well go pick up a Mustang SVT Cobra... they can run 12's stock... Its only like $33,000 or so... (I've seen them as much as $38,000 at a local dealer... markup can be huge so you've got to shop around.) But does it matter really what the final sticker price really is? Its all payed for in monthly payments so it doesnt make much difference... by maybe $40-$100 a month. Unless he's a REAL rich boy and just buys the car outright with ca$h... then it doesn't matter. Just my $.02 :bloated: Frostbyte 02-28-2003, 06:52 PM I agree with Redneck but insted of a SVT Cobra I would rather get a S2000 and supercharge it =) Carlow_80 03-01-2003, 11:18 PM He is the oppitomy of rich boy and thats why he wants a fast RSX. He has a strong anti domestic mind frame and he cares about looks and luxury as much as the speed. The only reason he doesn't get a S2000 is because we live in canada and that would be hell in the winter. GTi-VR6_A3 03-02-2003, 01:21 AM dude. go sit in an rsx it aint that luxurious. haha the sentra ser vpsec is more luxurious -GTi-VR6_A3 Self 03-02-2003, 02:32 AM I say ignore these skeptics and go for it:D. With enough money anything can happen. So buy the RSX, throw the turbo on it, and run 12s. Then you can tell us all how you did it, how much it costs, and rather or not it was worth it. You can be like the test subject:D GTi-VR6_A3 03-02-2003, 02:33 AM Originally posted by Self I say ignore these skeptics and go for it:D. With enough money anything can happen. You can be like the test subject:D if he is a littel rich boy this is very true. lets have him spend his money and find out for all of us so we dont have to do the work... hahah j/k. but seriously everypne loves guinea pigs -GTi-VR6_A3 carrrnuttt 03-02-2003, 01:45 PM Originally posted by GTi-VR6_A3 heres the truth and i am not being an anti honda biggot. the type s engine is already pushed to its limit from the factory. without serious work you wouldnt want to bother putting a turbp onto it. it can not handle much boost. try to convince him to get a diff car. if you did make it a racer it would never be streetable. just how it is. at least from what i have heard. sorry to sound like im pseaking fact. if i am wrong tell me but dont flame me. i only know a bit about honda compared to what i know of european american nissan and mitsu and toyota -GTi-VR6_A3 Actually, the RSX responds real well to mods. The DC and AEM CAI that was tested for the car gave 20+ HP to the wheels. That's just with the intake. A correctly tuned RSX with I/H/E and ECU is capable of running VERY low 14's, and definitely 13's with slicks. It has a lot to do with iVTEC, which not only changes the cam timing, but the ignition timing as well...meaning the car is almost self-tuning itself as you run. As to the motor's capabilities as far as boosting goes, I am not too familiar with that subject yet, but I am sure with enough money, anything is possible. If this is true, you can only expect more power from any of the turbo kits that will soon be available for it. I would tell your friend to wait a few more months until the Greddy kit becomes available and try that out. It should easily make more power than the JRSC and be CARB legal as well. civicHBsi91 03-02-2003, 07:11 PM Novermber 2002 import tuner issue #044 had a boosted rsx pushin 310 hp *aslo had Tila Nguyen on the cover.....shes so hott* GTi-VR6_A3 03-03-2003, 12:36 AM Originally posted by inferno Yes, please do not comment on the looks as you are driving a Golf. ;) i am not driving a golf although i wish i was driving a gti. but more than that id rather have a corrado. but eh taste for one is disgusting for the other. -GTi-VR6_A3 inferno 03-03-2003, 04:45 AM Originally posted by GTi-VR6_A3 i am not driving a golf although i wish i was driving a gti. but more than that id rather have a corrado. but eh taste for one is disgusting for the other. -GTi-VR6_A3 Agreed as I find the Corrado on the ugly side of the fence too...it looks like it should be RWD and the back end sits up way too high IMO.
