Bought the blazer last summer with 140,000 miles, while test driving the check engine light came on took it to my cousin (local mechanic) did a test MAF sensor. We finaly put one in this weekend. But now the light is still on for the Shift Timing Solonoid. Have been reading on it and should i replace the solenoid or what others have done the ignition switch?

DTC's do not tell you to replace parts. DTC's tell you what flow chart to follow for diagnosing the problem. What DTC's are you getting now? (List them in the order they appear.)

i'm just getting the Shift Timing Solenoid P0785
also to add when the transmission is cold shifts through all the gears fine but when it warms up going from about 30 mph 3rd gear to a dead stop it stays in 3rd gear very sluggigh take-off

This should help you diagnose it. This site does not specifically target a 1997, but the flow chart is essentially the same. http://www.hotrodlane.cc/New%20LS%20Links%20Page/LS%20trouble%20codes/DTC%20P0785%205.7%20L.htm

Just to add 97 is a bad year on ign switch problems that can throw transmmission codes.

Code 795 is a open or short in the 3-2 solenoid circuit.
Check the wiring in pan and plugin real close.
And check solenoid for power feed.
