Car Repaired - Now Makes New Noice, They Claim Not From Them

Just recently I picked up my car from a local repair shop where I paid $850 for a new timing belt and tensioner.

Now, the noise of the bad belt was fixed but whenever I made turn with he wheel all the way to either the left or right, it makes a loud squealing noise. I never had this problem before and now the day after I pick it up its doing this. WTF? I call them and they say its not from them..... What should I do?

EDIT: Sorry about the typo in the title lol... :smokin:

That's your power steering. I would say check your PS fluid level and make sure it's full all the way. If it is, keep the top off, and while the car is idling, turn the wheel as far to left and right and possible, and keep doing it and see if it gets better. Have someone else watch the fluid and see if bubbles are coming when you do that. I'm guessing low fluid though.

EDIT: Also make sure that the belt is tight on there too and not over tightened.

Well I dropped it off today.... Guess we'll see what happens. It's more of a hassle than anything.

These cars are always a hassle. Let us know what the problem was when you get it back.

Sounds like a the motor mounts be loose Dave, i know my brothers car is the same way. Either loose mounts or the pulleys not aligning correctly IMO.

Tighten the accessory belt and I bet it goes away. I'm guessing they just didn't tighten the belt enough, there should be 90* deflection in it at the proper tension.

But it happens worse if the wheels turn the way the belts are in the bay.

Huh? Straight? We'll see what it was when he posts back. I've never heard of a loose motor mount causing belts to squeal.

When you turn the wheels it puts more strain on the power steering pump whihc makes the belt slip if its a little loose.

I can see that being a possibility now. Makes sense.
