Hub Cap Coverspdreher 03-23-2008, 03:12 PM I was just wondering on my 1983 Caprice Classic if the hub cap covers have a lock on them to take them off? Thank you in advance for the help. randy78 03-23-2008, 04:19 PM wire wheel covers yes hub caps are dog dish 10" base model ones and were mainly only on 9C1 police/rescue and 9C6 taxi wire covers are full size cover entire wheels and have alocking tool in the trunk or glovebox if you lost yours then go to a junk yard and take one from another rear wheel drive gm car with wire covers i save these from cars i take to the shredder most recent was an 85 cutlass supreme i saved all the covers and the tool and parts good luck mike561 03-23-2008, 04:19 PM If you have the wire spoke hub caps there is a screw on each hubcap that holds them on, you have to pop off the center cap (carefully) where the caprice emblem is to get to the screw 463 03-23-2008, 07:17 PM there is a paint color on the locking bolt for the wheel cover and this will be the same color as the locking key ( green for green red for red you get the picture) so if your junk yard shopping it will save you a bit of time. here is a link to the wire wheel cover. i think the covers were used from 84 to 96. http://www.impalasuperstore.com/naisso/resource/resource25.asp the first pic is with the lock cap removed, 2nd is on. http://i13.tinypic.com/8335x93.jpghttp://i14.tinypic.com/6k5807p.jpg pdreher 03-23-2008, 10:13 PM ok so my next question is: i have no center caps ( would like the caprice emblems ones where could i get them from) so i need to also find a lock somewhere mike561 03-23-2008, 11:46 PM When i used to have hubcaps on mine, i just used regular bolts to hold them on, and kept a socket for that size in my car, just another option though. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
