The ABS on the car is messed up. It turns on at the most akward times and I lose braking power, ABS light is always on, going downhill activates it to turn on its very messed up. I just wanna turn the damn thing off, when its on it sucks anyways. Does anyone know what steps to take to turn it off? Should I just remove the power to it? Should I just turn it on in the fuse panel. If so can you point me to the location of the things I should remove to turn it off. Thanks for the help.

You'll still always have the ABS off light on when you disable it unless you clear it out with HPtuners or a techII from GM.

Check the sensors are the wheels for debris/ loose connection
Is there tread on the tires?
Is it wet or snowy out when this happens?

I dont mind if the Light is on, I can always find the fuse for it and remove it. The ABS doesnt turn on when its cold, sometimes I can force it to turn on if I break very hard soon after I start it. At this point the pedal falls through and you lose breaking power, but the next time you use it its fine. If I dont force it to turn on tho, a lot of time I will lose the breaks going downhill and this is the biggest concern to me. My mom drives the can and I dont want her to deal with that. The ABS system on these cars is horrible anyways so its not really doing a service being on. I just want to know how do I turn it off permenantly. Does anyone have a site I can look at or a couple pictures to help me locate what needs to be removed.

I had a 98 cavalier on which the ABS would go off as soon as i stopped on 2 pieces of gravel. If u look on top of the master cylinder/ABS assembly, there are 2 sensors front and back. Unplug them and that should give u conventional brakes. Worked for me.
