I have a 1986 Toyota 4 X 4, and the gas gauge just quit working. I have checked my fuses, and they all look good, but I don't know which fuse, if any, is associated with the fuel gauge. Has the sending unit gone bad? Any ideas appreciated.

One fuse does the whole panel, so if other stuff is working it's not that.
Most likely it's the sending unit, a common problem. You might be able to fix it with some electrical contact cleaner.

common problme on these indeed yes
mine was dead since befor ei got the truck 4 years ago almost now
i rmeoved it once to check it out and it was frozen solid junk
picked up a supposedly good used one from a member for 20 bucks but it didnt work either but at least wasnt rusted stuck
i really dont need a fuel guage i this truck
fuel useage is pretty predictable in these it seems, never been stranded or anything else :F
they will have a sputter on take off when the fuel level is low
so you know its low
the fuel light quit on me the wiring connector for it at the pass side rocker keeps losing contact, i got tired of fixing it i even used a crimp connector and it quit too
new sending unit costs more than i will spend, as well as a new TPS in which is also dead in this truck haha, over 100 bucks each
good luck
