This will be my next victim. I built a full roll cage and drilled out the molded in gauges so I can use decals. http://img03.picoodle.com/img/img03/4/3/18/f_MobyDickm_981754e.jpg

Nice,

Is it one of those Tamiya's motorized kit of the Italeri/AMT's? Any details planned?

Hi

I know it will be a pain, but all the red areas on the car should be 'rocket red' like the F1 Mclarens. It doesn't show on pictures - as they show it as normal postbox red. Now you know!

The 936 Martinis at that time also used the same colour. But you wouldn't know from the decals included in the Tamiya kits!

Here is an update. The chassis is finished and the body is ready for decals. I tinted the rear window yellow because all pictures of the car show it as transparent yellow.

I know the spoiler makes this race car complete but i like the curves of the porsche without the spoiler.

Nice! It looks very clean and the ride height looks good. Many builds i've seen on the web look like they are sitting too high.
The yellow rear window is a nice touch as well. How did you do it? Transparent yellow from the airbrush?

Very nice and clean !!! Are you going to use the Tamiya decals and, are the seat belts from Eduard?

Thanks: R :)

The ride height should be fixed on allot of these older kits. Most pictures of all 935's show the top of the rear wheel rim just at the top of the wheel opening with the tire sidewall up under the body at that point. I used Tamiya's Clear Yellow Acrylic in the jar.

Great start. Not much detail in these older motorized kits, huh? Fun to build, I'll bet.

One of my favorites! Was hoping to see it at Rennsport 3 last year but it wasn't there.

Decals finished and Future and wax applied. Touch up and cleanup then add all the details. Not a decal job for the faint of heart.

Great looks on the livery and great exekution. Was it hard to cut the decals over the front air intakes? How good were these decals regarding that this kit is rather old..

No I used a new single edge razor blad after the set and some MicroSol. I like these decals better than the newer ones. They have better glue and do not tear as easy. They do not have a very glossy finish but the polish up and get very shiny. I polished them with Tamiya compound while they were still on the backing.

Wow, very nice finish! Hope i'll get it as nice whenever i get to mine. The decals in my two kits ar both a bit yellowed, so i hope i can fix that.....good to hear though they're not so prone to breaking:-)

Tape the decals in a window that good sunlight for a couple ofdays and they will clear up.

Sunlight???? What's that? :-)

Seriously... i once tried that but the sun in northern Germany seems to be nowhere near powerful enough to do that.....

Looks great Dale,a real silhouette racer, the ride height is perfect which is so important in a car like that.

You've done a lovely job...must get myself one of these kits!

I have a thoery on why the rear screen always looks tinted in most pictures (and I'm sure many of you know this already) but what you see is actually two layers of glass. Porsche found a loophole to get around the silhouette regulations as they has to keep the original 911 rear screen. They added the new rear screen (which had far superior aerodynamics) over the original screen which they kept in place...utter genius!:grinyes: :smokin:

Yes. Put them up in a window exposed to the sun and they wil bleach out the yellow. It's the UV.
If you have any problems. We have plenty of sun here in Perth, Western Australia! LMK.

Great work there 935. Excellent job so far. The decal work was fantastic.
