1976 Jeep Cherokee wiring diagramwolfman89 03-16-2008, 09:42 PM I have a 1976 Cherokee that I removed the body from and put on a 1950 Ford truck body. I used the steering column from the Cherokee but did not think to save the wiring harness. I just bought a new universal wiring harness but I'm having some trouble hooking it up to the column.:banghead: I'm hoping that someone can explain the color codes on the column for the turn signals and so on... http://www.geocities.com/jeep_images/electrical/turn_signal/tspluggedtogether.jpg http://a948.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/51/l_22de83edf37d7e94ee75dc15de5df663.jpg Thanks in advance to anyone that helps out!! sector95 03-19-2008, 01:32 AM Hey wolfman, You're talking a beast of a different color here ...and a classic beast at that. I would try looking in my local library for an old Motor's or Chilton's manual or check online for any groups into these older Jeeps. Try "1976 jeep cherokee" as a Google search .... Mike 00XJ AlohaBra 03-23-2008, 11:14 AM Mike is right...the Cherokee that most people in the forum is refering to is the XJ model....1984 to 2001. I personally have no information on the older model per se. But the old one was AMC correct? That is "old school". All you need is turnsignals right? The ignition can be mount on the dash. From your picture, it says Delco-Remy which is GM. AMC used a conglomerate of GM and Ford stuff in their vehicles. You can remove the steering wheel and trace the turnsignal wiring that way. Usually there is a power feed in to the middle of the switch and then when you push it up or down that feed gets sent out to the left or the right side bulbs. The ground is at the bulb end. Use an ohmmeter. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
