I have an 87 Pathfinder SE with the 3.0 V6. I broke down on the highway the other day because of what i belive to be the timiming belt breaking/malfunctioning. Could anyone tell me whether or not this engine is free-running or interference, so I can figure out if there will be valve damage? I believe the engine is the VG30i. Please respond quickly because I have to decide whether or not to call the junkyard to come get it. Thank you.

I came across this today. http://www2.partstrain.com/store/?Ntt=Timing%20Belt&N=1684%2011371%204294966981 It shows evidence to the contrary. If you scroll down to where it says "Dayco Timing Belt 1987-2000 Nissan Pathfinder" it reads VG30i Interference engine SE. Where did you find out that this engine was not an interference engine?
