I took my 2000 interceptor to autopart store to test the cause of check engine light and was told cylinder #4 is misfiring. On the way back home the engine light started blinking and then stopped and engine ran with more hesitation and loader kicking. took the car to Auto zone for second opinion. This time the test indicated misfiring #4 and #8 in addition I smelled some hot and burning wires type of smell under the hood without any visual indication !
My question is : Could misfiring #8 be a false indicator due to the firing order of 1-3-7--2-6-5-4-8 ? or did it go bad because I drove it for about 10 miles ? I have to fix this myself without spending too much money and I need your help and your input about possible causees, DIY, and trouble shooting.

Thank you all.:banghead:

Fixed # 8. Had water in the plug hole. Ordered coil for cyl#4.
Started to leak collant from the back of the engine. heater hoses are dry, I hope it is not the Intake Manifold. Don't know how to get to it.:shakehead

Check at the rear head you could have a blown head gasket. Use a mirrow and a flashlight look at the gasket surface at the rear. To change a head gasket you also need to pull the intake. Have the head pressure tested at a machine shop before reinstalling.

I am using the Auto clinix.com instruction to remove and repair the intake Manifold. I am at the step 19 where there is a wiring Loom or bracket that is bolted to the back of the engine, where I can not reach, ,,, therefore I can not remove the fuel Injector rails at this moment.
I appreciate all or any suggestions.
Thanks.

Sometimes you need to jack up the vehicle on jack stands. Use a flashlight and look around the transmission from both sides. Some of these brackets use a torx bolt and you need a 1/4 inch drive with a short torx. Others use a combination wrench to loosen the bolt. Some you can use a small pair of channel locks if you don't have the correct tool.
Worse case you can remove a motor or transmission mount to change position where you can reach it.
They are hard to reach but it can be done always study the problem use a flashlight and look closely. Then do what it takes to do the job.

Thank You, Rhandwor
I had to use the exact 15 mm 1.5 inch box wrench to get to it.
The Aluminun heater pipe(hose) had a small hole at the 90 degree, where it tuched and rubbed against the corner of the engine block I replaced it with Ford original and wrapped the angle( bend) with 3 inches of rubber radiator hose to prevent future punctures.
After working on this engine , now I understand why Ford ( world's #2 Auto maker)company's stock price per share dropped to $5 from high $70's.
